El lema de la Multiconferencia Internacional 2020 del Latin American and Caribbean Consortium of Engineering Institutions (LACCEI) “Cumbre de la Ingeniería de la Organización de Estados Americanos” invitó a sus participantes a reflexionar sobre la relación entre ingeniería, integración y alianzas para lograr un desarrollo sostenible. La pandemia de COVID 19 nos da una perspectiva única sobre esta relación. Con el texto que aquí se presenta, el autor brindó una conferencia con motivo de su distinción con la Medalla al Mérito Académico de América Latina y Caribe de LACCEI 2020. En ella presenta su visión de la situación regional actual y se pregunta: ¿qué mundo queremos para cuando pase la pandemia?, para luego proponer posibles caminos a seguir.
The motto of the 2020 Latin American and Caribbean Consortium of Engineering Institutions (LACCEI) International Multiconference: "American States Organization Engineering Summit" invited its participants to reflect on the relationship between engineering, integration and alliances for sustainable development. The COVID-19 pandemic gives us a unique perspective on this relationship. The text we presented here is a lecture that the author gave when he received the LACCEI 2020 Medal of Academic Merit of Latin America and the Caribbean. In this work, he presents his vision of the current regional situation and asks: what world do we want after pandemic? Then he proposes possible ways forward.
