Objectives The following project suggests a theoretical investigation which will focus on the most important attempts to develop the multimodality phenomenon in fictional texts carried out in the last years. The main objectives of this project are the following: - Raising awareness about the importance of the presence of the different semiotic resources used in texts that affect the reading processes of each reader according to their interpretation and exploring the fiction potential to mix the verbal and non-verbal in the meaning construction. - Acknowledging and develop sensibility when faced to visual aspects of the text that are normally taken for granted or go unnoticed. Being able to see their role in meaning constructions. - Understanding some of the theoretical notions and principles of textual multimodality, especially in fiction, and to adopt them to describe texts. - Identifying and analyze the different semiotic resources so as to be able to categorize them according to characteristics and functions. - Reflecting on the pedagogical implications of the fact of being aware about the visual aspect of the text.
